Our History
AZ Digital Dish was formed in
1997 with the launch of Echostar’s first two satellites. The owner, Brian
Brimhall, was an account executive for Dish Network/Echosphere of Dallas.
Realizing that someday he would like to hang up his suitcase and return home to
the White Mountains where he had grown up, he arranged for his father to go
through the necessary steps to be ready for his homecoming and have the company
in place. After being in the industry since the launch of Primestar in 1992, he
has learned the ins and outs of the industry. Throughout the last 11 years, his
experience has been that customers are more satisfied and get more enjoyment
from their home entertainment systems if the systems are professionally
installed and the Customer receives a complete understanding of how the system
works. So when our installer leaves, you are watching the finest TV you have
ever seen.
There is a definite reason for offering only Dish Network. In the early days of
Primestar, Brian was lucky enough to be working for a man that had a vast
background in the industry. As his mentor explained it to him, Primestar is
really a good idea, but you want to be with Echosphere and Charlie Ergen when
Dish Network launches. Charlie was instrumental in the integration of the
C-Band/Big Dish from separate components into one convenient box. Mr. Ergen had
already made his fortune and financially had no reason to risk it all on a new
technology. However, through his love of the industry he petitioned with
the FCC to get the high-powered slots necessary to complete his dream of "a
dish in every home". Even though Dish was there in the
beginning to acquire the positions in space, they came out quite some time after
their competition. We feel the reason for this was to make sure that the first
generation equipment would be upgradable without purchasing new equipment. Also,
in order to have the capability to offer local programming, several satellites
had to be planned.
Since the beginning, we have kept a staff of competent technicians. Dish
Network currently has 10 satellites in 6 slots, offering not only digital
programming, but also High Definition programming. They didn’t just launch one
up and get the jump on the market as the competition did. We feel the biggest
perk is Dish Network has no other interests than direct-to-home entertainment.
Dish currently has 10 satellites in 6 high-powered locations and is able to
offer 500 channels, including High Definition channels, with a one-dish
solution. We are very excited with what Dish has to offer, and Brian shares
Charlie’s dream of "A Dish in Every Home".
As we moved forward we saw the need for internet service for our customers that are not on the grid. We started with our first solution StarBand as a beta test dealer in early 2000. StarBand works extremely well for us and was a true blessing in remote areas even though there are many being used in towns. In 2005 we found our second solution Wild Blue that works much the same way but with a smaller dish and a newer technology. Most recent and probably the most exciting to us, as we have several headends in hotels, is Oxford Media. Oxford has provided us a solution for Video on Demand or commercial pay per view. In addition to this very affordable amenity to the Free to Guest industry, they also developed an advanced technology for WI-FI wireless internet. This not only covers the lobby but distributes throughout the entire property. The next phase in the next few months is WI-MAX. This will not only make wireless possible on the property but will create a ten mile radius for all to utilize. We can see Oxford being a major focus moving forward, not only with Hotels but Hospitals and MDU properties. We see many other applications in the future with our association with this company and there leading edge technologies. We appreciate your interest in AZ Digital Dish and hope we are able to bring our excitement and technologies into your life.
The history and information is
strictly AZ Digital Dish’s opinion.
